The heart of Waiaka was constructed in the 1800's by William Lindsey (one of Waimea's founding rancher families.) For the next century Waiaka's charm increased with the additions from each of its residing families. In 2005 it was purchased by two creative women whose vision to re-open Waiaka's doors to the community was enacted by their recent and transformative renovations. By simply expanding on Waiaka's exuding warmth, ambiance and cultural history; these two women have truly transformed this Hawaiian home into an inviting gathering place.

The most alluring aspect of the "Big Island" of Hawaii is its seemingly endless variation of environments. Situated in the "sunny-side" of historic Waimea, Waiaka is in prime location for visitors to explore the most sought after pockets of Big Island landscapes. A twenty minute drive "makai" (or ocean side) will take sun-seekers to some of the world's most pristine beaches and best swimming on the island. A twenty minute drive "mauka" (or mountain side) hikers, site seers and cultural enthusiasts alike will enjoy the historic and untouched towns of Hawi, Honoka'a, or the famous valleys of Waipio and Pololu. Waimea is nestled at the foot of the Kohala hills allowing for easy and central access to both Kona and Hilo towns without getting lost in the hustle and bustle of big city distractions.
